Definition of the cold war
The Cold War can be most easily described as one of the most fearful times for the fate of humanity in the entire history of man. The 43 years that it lasted was a daily struggle for every person on earth. The Cold War was the tension and competition between the United States and Soviet Union. Although it is called “the Cold War”, no actual battle was ever fought unlike all other wars. The Cold War consisted of both the U.S. and the USSR trying to prevent the other’s political influence while promoting and spreading their own. The era of the Cold War was spent with several events that nearly brought a nuclear war upon earth by the two superpowers. The Cold War is arguably the closest that the world has ever gotten to, to human extinction. With two superpowers, both having nuclear weapons in possession, who knows what could have happened had actual war erupted between the U. S. and the USSR.
